To govern themselves the people must free themselves, starting with our illusions. We have the tools and the first and most important tool is cooperation that builds consensus in our own communities. There are some very effective tools that enable win - win outcomes and one of those is Non-violent Communication.  It really does work.
It does not matter where you start.  It matters very much where you end up and that is home with the people you love.  This is not about politics at all.  It is about caring for each other as God intended whether or not you believe.  Being the love makes it happen.

There will be many more tools as all of us build and use them. This will be a learning exercise for all of us. Let us know about your own tools and projects so we can pass them on to others.  Sharing is caring!
Returning your county to the direct governance of the people is a process.  In areas of our country many local movements are underway.  Here, you will find information about those efforts, with updates.  Fortunately, some of these have been going on for some time how.
Check out the Citizen's College from Chatham County, North Carolina.  This effort has successfully changed the governance in the county, making it more responsive to the people using cooperation and focused action.
Their College allows citizens to directly hear from County employees in a series of classes that go on for seven weeks.  Citizens who have been through the process understand how the county works and can then call what they are doing into question in ways that have proven to work to change how government works.

Other ongoing efforts to accomplish relocalized government include Sabastapol's Transition Towns, which focus on sustainability issues but promise to branch out.

Take Back the County – The Agenda

  1. Understand the Common Law and traditional American institutions.

                     Committees of Safety

The Committees of Safety has resources you may find useful in your own area.                               They are working on a monetary system and on rescinding legislation at the state                              level that could get in the way of localizing commerce.

               2. Ensure that your Sheriff will uphold the Constitution - Constitution Your County

               3. Take Judges and other Officials out of Office who fail to uphold the Constitution.
                       County Justice
This site is run by a guy who has made it his mission to reform the court system                               and put justice, as intended by our Founders, in the hands of the people.  He                               is taking it step by step to show you how.

               4. Place Elections in the hands of the people.
Voter rights organizations have agreed to help.

               5.  Ensure that your local government carries out only those jobs you, the people,                                 determine it should undertake.

The County is the smallest Constitutional unit. One of the systemic glitches was the size of the county. As we take them back we need to make the size smaller so that the people can keep an eye on what is happening. Steps 1. and 2. can be carried out simultaneously.

Taking back your county is not about just one or two things, it is about everything now being handled through your county government.  Every county is different, facing its own challenges.  We are following efforts across the country and will send you information on these as they become available.  The fact is that many of the essential services, the ones we could willingly support, have remained in the hands of community groups.  Consider becoming active in one of those groups as many of us at America Goes Home have been.  Knowing what needs support in your community is a great way to start your own activism, so get involved and ask questions.
